Ancient seal pendant in pink gold and agate

18K rose gold pendant, seal, stamp (hallmark: owl) and brown agate, unengraved.

Work from the early 19th century.

Gross weight: 10.88 g
Height (including bail): 4.40 cm

Condition: very slight micro-scratches and oxidation on the gold parts, see photos.

Although gems have been sculpted or engraved since prehistoric times, glyptics experienced its true rise during Antiquity.

In Egypt it developed thanks to amulets believed to protect their owner.
