Hermès Cape Cod Steel - Small Model

Heading towards new horizons

Description

A design that should be familiar to you... Inspired by the Chaîne d'Ancre bracelet, the Cape Cod from Hermès has carved out its place within the collections and become a must-have, instantly recognizable yet understated. Its unique shape, a square case set within a rounded frame, gives it an Art Deco feel.

Its Arabic numerals, following the lines of the case, echo the world of saddlery and the iconic Hermès motifs. A watch with a particularly coherent design.

Made of steel, this is an everyday watch, comfortable and practical thanks to its quartz movement.

Current new price: €2,900

Why did Françoise choose her?

Like the House of Hermès, it embodies " French elegance ." Françoise simply had to include it in her selection. Everyone knows that Hermès is a benchmark of luxury and craftsmanship. The watch collection is no exception.

The Cape Cod is a model that Françoise particularly likes because its design is one of the most discreet in the Hermès collections: it is not as explicit as others, which gives it elegance and more refinement.

Françoise chose to pair it with an orange bracelet, an iconic color reference... And then it is a watch which, in addition to this bright color, itself evokes summer and sunny days, its name being inspired by the eponymous American seaside resort.

History

The House of Hermès was founded in 1857, but it wasn't until 1912 that the first watch was designed in the workshops of Emile Hermès. This watch, a gift for his 9-year-old daughter, already combined leather with the case.

The Cape Cod model was created in 1991 by Henri d'Origny, then Artistic Director of Hermès, in collaboration with Maison Vaucher. Eight years later, Martin Margiela, head of ready-to-wear at Hermès, added a new double-wrap strap. The watch became a fashion accessory, one that complements an outfit, and for which the strap holds particular significance. Even today, the Cape Cod remains highly sought after and, through its various versions, has established itself as a must-have for both women's and men's wrists.
