Chopard Mini Yellow Gold - c. 1990

Small size, great timelessness

Description

A discreet, elegant and timeless watch? This Chopard watch in 18-carat yellow gold is the perfect example.

A watch that has lost none of its charm over the years. Its clean, patinated dial is uniquely signed Chopard Genève and features "dauphine" hands, accentuating the refinement of the watch.

The case is mounted on a black alligator leather strap with its original gold-plated buckle. The watch is equipped with a quartz movement.

Two specific features make this watch unique. First, something that was quite common from the 60s to the 90s, the presence of the initials " The word "LUC" is engraved on the crown (sometimes on the dial and/or movement). This is a tribute to Louis-Ulysse Chopard, founder of Chopard. This inscription underscores the Maison's heritage. Finally, there is a touching dedication on the case back: " Hans - 20.6.90 ". A birthday, a birth, a wedding? It will remain a mystery!

Why did Françoise choose her?

Françoise loves discreet and elegant pieces, the kind you don't see on every wrist and that are unjustly overlooked! This Chopard watch is the perfect compromise between a timepiece and a piece of jewelry: a refined horological jewel that can be worn every day. Its clean lines give it a timeless look that will complement any style.

History

Founded in 1860 in Sonvilier, Switzerland, by Louis-Ulysse Chopard, the Chopard company is dedicated to the creation of precision watches. From the very beginning, Chopard sometimes used the initials "LUC" to mark its watches, a direct reference to its founder and the Maison's identity. Over the decades, Chopard built an international reputation before being acquired in 1963 by the Scheufele family, thus becoming a House of High Jewelry and Watchmaking.

From the 1970s onwards, iconic collections emerged, such as the Happy Diamonds. In 1996, Chopard reached a significant milestone with the creation of its Fleurier manufacture. This facility gave rise to the LUC line, dedicated to high-end mechanical watch movements.

Today, Chopard is recognized as much for its jewelry pieces as for its manufactured movements, combining tradition and technical innovation.
