Antique style coral cameo ring
18Kt yellow gold ring (hallmark: eagle's head), adorned with a coral cameo depicting a woman's profile.
19th-century work for the cameo
French work, vintage for the frame, in an antique style.
Gross weight: 6.30g
Pattern height: 1.70 cm
Pattern width: 1.50 cm
Ring size: 50 (diameter 5.25 / US 15.80).
Condition: micro scratches and very slight oxidation on the gold parts, slight wear on the cameo, and a small chip in its lower right part, see photos.
Coral, although organic in nature, is as precious as a gemstone: its growth is very slow, and red coral like this has been prized for millennia. It comes mainly from the Mediterranean Sea where it lives in shaded rocky habitats between 5 and 700 meters deep.
Our care advice : As coral is sensitive to skin acidity, salt, and chemicals (household products, chlorine, body creams), it is advisable to remove your jewelry in the evening, rinse it with cold water and dry it by wiping it carefully, and occasionally nourish it with an oily substance such as Vaseline.
