Art Deco double-sided Virgin Mary pendant medal/mother-of-pearl

Magnificent antique pendant medal in solid 18-karat (750/1000) yellow gold, bearing an eagle's head hallmark and a lozenge-shaped maker's mark. French Art Deco work, signed GRUN. Octagonal in shape, the obverse features a profile of the Virgin Mary with a halo, very finely and richly chased in beautiful relief. The reverse is made of natural white mother-of-pearl with lovely iridescent reflections, without engraving.

As a reminder, Samuel Grün, born in 1869 in Tallinn, was a French painter and medalist of Estonian origin. He exhibited at the Société des Artistes Français in Paris and at the Salon of the Royal Academy in London.

Condition: Very good, with a few very light micro-scratches. Beautiful warm gold color. This is a typical Art Deco medal, very well made, elegant and luminous. Can be personalized with engraving.
