Contemporary Marquise Ring in 18-Carat Gold, Colombian Emerald and Diamonds
Contemporary ring dating from the 1990s (Vintage), made of 18-carat white gold (750 thousandths). It is set in its center with a Colombian emerald, with cut sides and an intense green called "vivid green", weighing 0.78 carats. This magnificent stone is highlighted by navette-cut and brilliant-cut diamonds, of exceptional quality. Each stone has been meticulously chosen for their quality and purity, offering a captivating result.
Colombian emeralds are mined from deposits located in the Andes mountain range, mainly in the mines of Muzo, Chivor and Coscuez . These mines were already exploited by pre-Columbian peoples long before the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors in the 16th century. The Muiscas , a prosperous indigenous civilization, revered the emerald as a sacred stone, a symbol of fertility and eternity.
When the Spanish discovered these deposits, they were immediately fascinated by the quality and intensity of the green of these gems. They then exported them to Europe, where they became prized stones for royalty and the high aristocracy.
Among the world's most precious emeralds, at the top of this prestigious hierarchy, emeralds classified as "Vivid Green" are the most coveted. Their bright, deep, and saturated green color places them among the rarest and most sought-after stones by collectors and fine jewelry houses. The term "Vivid Green" is a classification assigned to emeralds with an extremely pure, intense, and luminous green hue, with no blue cast or yellowish undertones. Emeralds of this quality are extremely rare, representing a tiny fraction of mined stones, which gives them exceptional value on the gem market.
