CARTIER - Rare Sagittarius pendant, plique-à-jour enamel, gold

Splendid vintage circular pendant in solid 18-karat (750/1000) yellow gold, stamped with an eagle's head hallmark and the partial lozenge hallmark of the silversmith AXC. French work from the 1960s, produced in the Cartier workshop. Unsigned.

The pendant features a stylized bust of a centaur drawing his bow, representing the astrological sign of Sagittarius (November 23 - December 21). The figure is crafted from finely textured gold covered with enamel in three shades of gold, ranging from light to dark. The setting is decorated with translucent blue plique-à-jour enamel. There is no engraving on the reverse.

Height including the bail: 2.8 cm

Diameter: 2.04 cm

Weight: 2.55 g

Condition: Very good, with minor scratches on the gold parts. The centaur's enamel is in excellent condition. The plique-à-jour enamel is complete with signs of wear: scratches and small cracks. See detailed photos. This is a rare piece of jewelry, suitable for men or women.

This exceptional, colorful and luminous zodiac pendant is a genuine collector's item.

Note: I have cataloged an identical pendant bearing the "Cartier" signature engraved on the back and the maker's mark AXC (probably from the Adrien Chobillon workshop in Paris). Note that the same model was also made by Arthus Bertrand, but in that case, it bears the maker's mark AB.

Fast and careful shipping in a new box with an invoice (the old presentation box shown in the photo is not included in the sale). Sold without a chain.
